This is essentially the purpose of “Process Early” available on each transaction. If your transaction is processed sooner than anticipated simply tap on it and tap “Process Early” to have it update the balance as needed.

To expand on this one option would be for a transaction to still be applied to the balance when it's date passes but instead of moving to the archive section perhaps move it to a pending section. The user can then clear the transaction which would move it to the archive section.
